ABOUT US.
Lake City Church was established in 1954 and has faithfully served the Mooresville community for decades. What began as a small, local church has grown into a vibrant, life-giving community—continually shaped by God’s faithfulness and a deep commitment to His presence.
Through every season, Lake City has followed God’s leading with bold faith. As the church continued to grow, it stepped into a season of trusting God beyond familiar walls, gathering wherever space was available while believing for what was next. That journey led to the purchase of our current campus and the opening of our Bluefield Road location in 2018—a significant milestone that marked a new chapter of growth and opportunity.
Since moving to this campus, Lake City Church has experienced remarkable growth. Our church family has expanded, ministries have flourished, and lives are being transformed week after week. We are a church centered on God’s Presence, committed to People, grounded in Purpose, and continually in Pursuit of all God has for us.
As we look ahead, we believe God is calling us to make room for the future. Through the MAKE ROOM initiative, we are preparing to expand our facilities to create space for more people to worship, more children to be discipled, and more ministry to reach our community and beyond. This vision is about obedience, stewardship, and readiness for what God is doing next.
Lake City Church is part of the Assemblies of God and the North Carolina Assemblies of God network. We are a pastor-led church, supported by a Board of Directors who provide accountability, wisdom, and spiritual oversight.
Rooted in a strong legacy, fully engaged in the present, and boldly believing for the future—Lake City Church exists to know God, love people, and reach the world.
CORE VALUES.
Presence.
-
Everything begins with drawing near to Him.
Scripture promises, “Come close to God, and God will come close to you” (James 4:8). His nearness is not symbolic—it is transformative, relational, and essential to our faith.
Genesis 21:6 NIV
-
Worship is more than singing; it is the daily offering of our lives to honor Him.
“Present your bodies as a living sacrifice… this is truly the way to worship Him” (Romans 12:1). Every moment becomes an invitation to glorify God.
-
Purpose begins with surrender.
Like the disciples who “immediately left their nets and followed Him” (Matthew 4:20), we choose obedience over comfort. We trust that God’s will leads us into life and purpose.preparing their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.”
Matthew 4:18-22 NIV
-
Transformation happens as we align our hearts with His truth.
“Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think” (Romans 12:2). Through prayer and Scripture, He forms us into the likeness of Christ.
John 8:31-32 NIV
-
The Spirit doesn’t merely comfort—He empowers.
“The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you” (Romans 8:11). His presence brings spiritual strength, renewal, and the power to live out our calling.
-
Psalm 16:11 declares, “In Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
In His Presence we find clarity, direction, and the peace that anchors our lives.
-
Throughout Scripture, God meets His people in real, life-changing ways. His Presence brings conviction, comfort, healing, and revelation. We believe His Presence is as real today as it was in Scripture.
“You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of Your presence” (Psalm 16:11).
-
Acts 2:17 promises, “In the last days… I will pour out my Spirit on all people… your sons and daughters will prophesy.” We believe the Spirit continues to speak, guide, and reveal God’s heart to His people.
-
1 Corinthians 12:7–11 teaches that the Spirit gives gifts such as wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment, and tongues. “A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” Miracles are not historical footnotes—they are signs of God’s compassion and Kingdom power.
-
The Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in us, bringing healing and transformation to our hearts, bodies, and lives.
Romans 8:11 reminds us that “the Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you and… will give life to your mortal bodies.” His resurrection power restores, strengthens, and makes us whole.
PURPOSE.
-
We follow Jesus with wholehearted devotion, holding nothing back.
Just as the first disciples left everything to follow Him, we choose obedience over comfort and purpose over convenience. Our time, our gifts, and our future belong fully to Christ—and we live each day to bring Him glory in all things. Matthew 4:20 (NLT) — “And they left their nets at once and followed Him.”
-
We speak the truth in love, even when it’s difficult.
Like Jesus, we refuse to dilute or distort God’s Word to please people; instead, we communicate truth with grace that leads to healing and freedom. Our conviction to stand firm on Scripture flows not from pride, but from compassion and a desire to see lives transformed. John 8:31–32 (NLT) — “You are truly My disciples if you remain faithful to My teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
-
We root our lives in the unchanging truth of God’s Word.
Scripture shapes our worldview, directs our decisions, and forms our character. As we continually renew our minds through God’s Word, we grow in wisdom, discernment, and Christlikeness—becoming people who reflect His heart in every season. Romans 12:2 (NLT) — “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you… Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
-
We believe the gospel is for everyone, and we embrace Jesus’ call to make disciples of all nations.
With boldness, compassion, and urgency, we share the good news—locally and globally—so that every person has the opportunity to encounter Christ. Our mission is not optional; it is the purpose we live for. Matthew 28:19 (NLT) — “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations…”
-
We embrace a biblical worldview, trusting that God’s design for life, identity, and relationships leads to human flourishing.
We seek to walk in His truth with humility and compassion—upholding Scripture as our standard while extending the grace, dignity, and love of Jesus to every person. Even as we hold to God’s way, we welcome all with open arms, believing transformation happens in His presence and under His truth. Romans 12:2 (NLT) — “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
-
We believe God is the author of life, identity, and family, and that His design—revealed in Scripture—is good, purposeful, and life-giving.
We affirm the biblical definition of marriage as a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, and uphold the sexual ethics taught in Scripture, which call for sexual expression within marriage and for purity and abstinence outside of it. We hold these convictions with humility and compassion, welcoming every person with Christlike love while remaining faithful to the way of life God invites His people to walk in.
1 Thessalonians 4:3 (NLT) — “God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin.”
PEOPLE.
-
We believe people matter deeply to God, and life in Christ is meant to be lived together.
Authentic community forms us, strengthens us, and reflects the heart of Jesus to the world. As we gather, grow, and walk alongside one another, we create a place where every person is known, valued, and encouraged in their faith. Acts 2:42 (NLT) — “All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals, and to prayer.”
-
We choose love first because it is the defining mark of a disciple.
Unity is not uniformity, but a commitment to walk in grace, humility, and peace with one another. When we love well—especially in difficult moments—we display Christ to the world and build the kind of spiritual family where people can flourish. John 13:35 (NLT) — “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are My disciples.”
-
We believe God speaks to His people today through His Word, His Spirit, and His Church.
Every believer can grow in recognizing His voice and discerning His leading. In community, we encourage one another to listen, respond, and walk confidently in the personal relationship God invites us into. John 10:27 (NLT)
“My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me.”
-
We practice joyful generosity—offering our time, talents, finances, and resources to build the Church and bless our community.
Because God has given abundantly to us, we give abundantly in return. We serve with humility, honor one another above ourselves, and invest wholeheartedly in whatever the Lord calls us to. We believe generosity fuels ministry, strengthens discipleship, and points people to the goodness of God. Every act of giving—whether through serving, volunteering, or financial sacrifice—is an opportunity to reflect the heart of Christ and share the Gospel. 2 Corinthians 9:7 (NLT) — “God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”
Matthew 10:8 (NLT) — “Freely you have received; freely give.”
PURSUIT.
-
We chase after more of God daily, never settling for spiritual complacency.
Our hunger keeps us humble, growing, and dependent on His presence. We long for more of His power and purpose in our lives, and this desire draws us to prayer, worship, and the Word—not out of duty, but out of deep love for Jesus.
Psalm 63:1 (NIV) — “You, God, are my God; earnestly I seek You; I thirst for You…”
-
We pursue God with holy expectation, believing He still speaks, leads, heals, and moves today.
We come before Him with faith-filled anticipation, trusting that His presence transforms everything. Where God is welcomed, He reveals His heart, renews His people, and releases His power.
Psalm 42:1 (NLT) — “As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for You, O God.”
-
We believe transformation happens on the other side of obedience. As we respond to God’s voice and walk in His ways, our minds, desires, and lives are continually shaped into the image of Christ.
Obedience is not about religious performance—it is the overflow of love and trust in Jesus, and the doorway to spiritual growth.
Matthew 4:4 (NLT) — “People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
-
We care more about genuine relationship with Jesus than religious performance.
Our worship, obedience, and service flow from love—not pressure or tradition. We refuse empty religion, choosing authenticity, integrity, and wholehearted devotion. God looks at the heart, and we pursue Him with purity, honesty, and reverence. Psalm 73:25 (NLT) “Whom have I in heaven but You? I desire You more than anything on earth.”
