ABOUT US.
Lake City Church began in 1954 as First Assembly of God of Mooresville. Over the years, several pastors led our small congregation that worshiped in a small brick building located on W. Wilson Ave. in downtown Mooresville.
In 2011, Pastors Rob and Diana Spradley became the lead pastors. As the church grew, it became clear that it was time to sell the building and prepare for an exciting new journey of faith. The congregation soon moved to a temporary location at Brawley Middle School. This “temporary” arrangement went on for over four years! In 2016, the current 14-acre property was purchased and in October of 2018, we moved into our new building at 311 Bluefield Rd!
Since moving to the new campus in 2018, Lake City Church has more than quadrupled in size. We are growing so much that we've begun to run out of space for worship, kids ministry, and parking. In 2023, we launched the MAKE ROOM initiative to raise funds and make plans for a 1,000 seat auditorium, more kids classes, offices, etc.
Lake City Church is an Assemblies of God church and part of the NCAG network: www.ncag.org
We are a pastor-led church with a Board of Directors who carry fiduciary responsibility and provide ongoing accountability to the pastor and the lead team.
core values.
-
We believe God will fulfill every promise.
Abraham waited for God to fulfill his promise. When Isaac was born, “Sarah said, “God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me.””
Genesis 21:6 NIV
-
We give and share in unexpected measure.
For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people. And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us.
2 Corinthians 8:3-5 NIV
-
We follow Jesus at all costs.
“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him. Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.”
Matthew 4:18-22 NIV
-
We choose biblical truth over cultural relativism.
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 8:31-32 NIV
-
We are hungry for His word and hungry for His presence.
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Matthew 4:4 NIV
-
We choose relationship with Jesus over the trap of tradition.
So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus, “Why don’t your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with defiled hands?” He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’ You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.
Mark 7: 5-8

We are not afraid of having fun.
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
